2) France falls in 1940 to the Germans.
3) Germany invades the Soviet Union at the Battle of Stalingrad.
4) Japan attacks Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 sinking and damaging American ships and killing many more.
5) Congress declares war on Japan on December 8, 1941 and the U.S. joins WWII.
6) The United States defeated Japan in one of the most significant naval battles of WWII, the Battle of Midway.
7) The Soviets successfully defend the city of Stalingrad at the Battle of Stalingrad which began on August 23, 1942 which marked a turning point in the war because it proved that Germany could be defeated and it boosted the Allies confidence.
